What actually moves these companies

A handful of import and distribution businesses, most listed decades ago and some of the oldest symbols on NEPSE.

The two that still trade are barely trading houses any more. Bishal Bazar Company runs the New Road commercial complex it is named after, and Salt Trading Corporation, part state-owned, distributes iodised salt and other essential commodities across the country.

The rest of the sector is a museum: one delisted symbol and two suspended ones, and no new listing added to it in years.

Turnover is minimal and the free float is small, so days can pass without a meaningful trade.

Worth knowing: Thin trading is the defining fact here. Both getting in and getting out can move the price against you.

All 2 are listed: Bishal Bazar Company Limited (BBC) and Salt Trading Corporation (STC). That is 0.7% of the 280 companies listed on NEPSE.
